Air New Zealand Spends $2.7 Billion To Purchase Eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners

Air New Zealand announced today that it will purchase eight Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft equipped with GE Aviation’s latest GEnx-1B engine, and look forward to this revolutionary new model to help the development of the route network. Regarding whether to replace the 787-10 with the 787-9, or a combination of these two models, Air New Zealand holds the final decision; the delivery time of the new aircraft can be advanced or postponed according to market demand. Air New Zealand is about to phase out eight 777-200 aircraft in 2025, and the new aircraft ordered this time will be supplemented accordingly.

Air New Zealand currently has 13 Boeing 787-9s, 8 Boeing 777-200s and 7 Boeing 777-300 widebody aircraft, and another 787-9 is expected to be delivered this year. The first new aircraft to be purchased will join the New Zealand Air Force fleet in 2022, and the rest will be delivered by 2027.
